Adult Swim Rolls Out PlayStation Promo

Adult Swim is launching a contest tied to its late night series Robot Chicken dangling the chance for a viewer to be written in to an upcoming episode of the series and win a PlayStation 3 gaming system.

The contest is part of a marketing stunt around the much-anticipated PS3, which hits retail stores Nov. 17. To enter the contest, fans submit comedic home videos (up to 90 seconds long) to AdultSwim.com showing Adult Swim executives just what they would do to land a role on Robot Chicken. The show is a variety/sketch series that brings pop culture parodies to life using stop animation. The show premiered on Cartoon Network in February 2005.

One grand-prize winner will appear as a clay animation action figure in at least one episode of the third season; the winner will also have his or her video appear on AdultSwim.com, and win a PS3 computer entertainment system and a PS3 video game. Two second-place winners will receive a PS3 computer entertainment system and a PS3 video game.

Adult Swim is promoting PS3 via streaming video on a microsite at US.PlayStation.com. In November, Adult Swim Fix, the broadband extension to the AdultSwim.com, will feature TV spots and PS3 ads before each featured program.

“This custom PlayStation promotion was designed to reach consumers on every level of interaction with Adult Swim’s brand,” said Phyllis Ehrlich, senior VP, Adult Swim and Cartoon Network Promotions Marketing, in a statement.

The contest ends Dec. 31. Winners will be announced in March. Online materials and TV spots support. OMD, New York, handles.
