Quebecor Closes Magalog Printing Facility

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Quebecor World Inc. announced Monday that it has begun closing a magalog printing facility in Quebec as part of a corporate restructuring plan under way.

The facility prints advertising inserts and magazines for the U.S. and Canadian markets. These operations will be consolidated at six other larger facilities elsewhere in Quebec, as part of an effort to reduce costs and improve productivity.

Quebecor said the facility being shut down recently has been operating at 20% of capacity due to reduced seasonal demand. It began operations in 1971.

The closure will result in the loss of approximately 300 full time jobs, including 200 employees currently on a temporary layoff, which now becomes permanent.
