Greyhound Rewards Road Warriors

Greyhound Lines, Inc. has launched its first loyalty program called Road Rewards giving special offers to customers who purchase tickets on the transportation company’s Web site.

Members of the program can earn rewards that range from discounted food and beverages in Greyhound terminals to free tickets. Consumers sign up for the free program at the Road Rewards link on Greyhound.com. Members earn points for each online ticket purchased once the trip is complete.

“The loyalty program was launched as a way to reward the loyal customers we do have,” said Anna Folmnsbee, spokesperson at Dallas-based Greyhound. “And it’s also a way to incentivize new or prospective customers to ride with Greyhound and use us as a travel option.”

Customers receive two points for each round-trip ticket purchased and one point for one-way tickets. Ten points will give customers a free companion pass and 20% off their next online purchase. Members earn a free ticket when they accumulate 16 points. Just for signing up for the program, customers receive a 10% discount on their next ticket purchase, Folmnsbee said. Customers can view their points and rewards online. Points accumulated are good for one year.

Scottsdale, AZ-based Intrasight administers the program and Dallas-based Slingshot, LLC, developed and manages the Road Rewards Web site.

Earlier this year, the company launched a Greyhound Unleashed tour with hip hop celebrity Funkmaster Flex. A Greyhound bus branded with the FF initials representing the celebrity debuted at music awards show Vibe last November. Since then the bus has made stops at large events nationwide including spring break locations in Florida. At each stop, students were given a chance to enter a contest to win tickets to this year’s Vibe awards ceremony.

The bus tour is just one more thing that Greyhound is doing to rejuvenate the brand, Folmnsbee said.

Greyhound is the largest North American provider of intercity bus transportation serving more than 2,400 destinations across the continent.
