FTC on Data Use: Show Us the Benefits

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The Federal Trade Commission has scheduled a June 18 workshop during which it will seek evidence that the collection of customer information by businesses benefits consumers.

The agency has used the Federal Register and its Web site (www.ftc.gov) to solicit comments and speakers for the event, which takes place at FTC headquarters on New Jersey Ave. in Washington.

The workshop is expected to focus on such topics as consumer credit, fraud prevention and customer relationship management, as well as direct and targeted marketing, according to an FTC policy planning official who requested anonymity.
