Office Depot Takes Its Marketing Mobile

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Office Depot will launch its first national mobile marketing initiative with the creation of a site on the go2 mobile content platform that will let wireless users find the nearest store via their handsets, together with any in-store special offers, promotions, coupons or sweepstakes.

“Office Depot is very excited to roll out this new service offering that will provide customers with another way to connect to Office Depot while away from the home or office,” Vice President of Direct Sales Kristin Micalizio said in a statement.

Users can reach the go2 Office Depot site directly at WAP.Go2OfficeDepot.com or by texting “od” to the short code 462411.

Privately-held go2 owns and operates a number of online and mobile Web sites designed to help users search for local services and products, including go2 Movies, go2Dining, go2 Golf and more than 300 sites specific to colleges and universities. The network runs on the decks of a number of wireless providers including Cingular, Verizon, Sprint and Alltel, and integrates with their GPS or location-based services to provide one-touch business calling and turn-by-turn driving directions.

According to go2 figures, mobile users access the company’s mobile content network more than 2 million times a month and view more than 20 million pages. Mobile market analyst M:Metrics found that the go2 network is one of the five most visited mobile search sites in the U.S., alongside AOL, Google, MSN and Yahoo.
