WGN Sending Fans to Wrigley

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Superstation WGN has launched the Boys of Summer Sweepstakes, a promotion that awards all-expense paid trips to cable subscribers from around the country who can watch their hometown teams battle the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The contest is a fully integrated consumer promotion that offers cable affiliates the ability to customize the promotion to their market and marketing goals. Campaign elements include cross-channel television, direct mail, Web banners, print, radio, P-O-P and bill inserts.

For the summer of 2004, Superstation WGN to date has received commitments from Comcast, Adelphia, Cox, Patriot Media and Buckeye Cablesystem. Markets include Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Washington DC, Fairfax, New York/Philadelphia and Toledo. When it ran the contest last year, 10 affiliates signed up and 10 trips were awarded.

In addition to producing all creative materials, East Aurora, NY-based Cenergy Communications is working alongside the cable affiliates on program execution and fulfillment of the consumer sweepstakes.
