Wendy’s to Give Away 100 Million Songs

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Wendy’s is giving away up to 100 million songs as part of a partnership with the Rhapsody music site to customers who buy its combo meals.

People who buy a medium- or large-sized combo meal at Wendy’s through December will receive a unique code redeemable for a free downloadable song on Real Network’s Rhapsody site. Codes are printed on the bottom of cups.

The promotion at http://www.hotjuicyhits.com is the latest effort by the fast-foot chain to reach young adults ages 18 to 34. The Web site also features an instant playback of songs from top artists available through Rhapsody and a programmed Wendy’s Radio stream, the company said.

“We’re focused on connecting with more consumers on more occasions through the things they feel passionate about,” Ian Rowden, Wendy’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “Music is one of them.”

The campaign also includes an instant-win game, which offers the chance to win one of 100 SanDisk Sansa e280R Rhapsody portable MP3 players or one of 2,000 50-song download bundles from Rhapsody.

The “Combo Up to Download” promotion runs through Jan. 31.

TV and radio spots, online marketing and in-store P-O-P support the promotion. EPrize is administering the promotion and instant-win game. Saatchi & Saatchi handles the advertising.
