Reebok to Run Lost Logo Contest at NHL Winter Classic

Reebok will run a contest during the National Hockey League Winter Classic for fans attending the annual outdoor game or watching on TV to identify the player who doesn’t have the Reebok logo on his jersey for a shot at Stanley Cup Final tickets.

Reebok also plans to give binoculars co-branded with its logo and the NHL Winter Classic to each of the 40,000 fans expected to be at the game between the Detroit Redwings and Chicago Blackhawks in Wrigley Field on New Year’s Day.

They can register for the contest by texting the word “Reebok” to 81812 or calling a toll-free number to be posted on the stadium scoreboard. A reply will request their seat location and ask them to identify the logo-less player on the ice. Viewers at home will be able to enter the contest online.

The winner will receive four tickets to a Stanley Cup Final game, including airfare, hotel accommodations and a $1,000 shopping spree on NHL.com. The four NHL fans will watch the game with a former NHL star. The winner will be notified by phone during the third period of the game and will have his or her name posted online on Jan. 2.

Reebok is looking to reinforce its role as official jersey supplier for the NHL and give TV viewers an additional reason to tune in.

“It’s one of the few contests only we can do as Reebok,” said company spokesman Dan Sarro. “It also provides a little something extra on TV.”

NBC will carry the game live on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. (ET). In addition to on-air plugs, Reebok is pushing its contest online, where fans can get information about the rules.
