Cable network AMC is running a sweepstakes as part of its initiative to highlight the Oscar season.
The grand prize winner of the AMC VIP Sweepstakes will fly to Hollywood during Oscar weekend and be treated like celebrity royalty, with a cadre of fashion, make up and spa advisors and access to some of the hottest weekend events, the network said.
The sweeps will be promoted through radio spots in Top 25 markets, on-air spots on AMC, and print ads in Premiere, People, US Weekly and Entertainment Weekly. Consumers register for the sweeps at Amctv.com from Feb. 5-18. AMC spokesperson Jaime Saberito said all aspects of the promo are being handled in-house.
The sweeps is a part of a multi-tiered intitative announced by senior VP Linda Schupack. Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, M&M’s and Earthlink, “And the Nominees Are….” will run Feb. 21-27 and showcase 24-hour programming of Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning films.
