Staples Picks a Winner in Photo Contest

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Staples named a San Francisco man the grand-prize winner of its national photo contest.

Gordon Szeto took the top prize in the Hometown Views promo from among more than 2,000 amateur photographers across the country. The entrants submitted digital photos that depicted what made their own hometowns unique (PROMO Xtra, Jan. 3, 2007).

Members of the Professional Photographers of America, the world’s oldest and largest not-for-profit association for professional photographers, chose Szeto as the winner.

For his efforts, Szeto won a four-day, three-night “Ultimate Photo Vacation to Iceland,” as well as a $100 Staples gift card. In addition, the winning photo, entitled “Urban Glow,” will be sold in more than 1,300 U.S. Staples stores beginning in July, with Szeto earning royalties of up to $5,000, Staples said. Finalists photos will be sold in certain locations.

The photo can be viewed at Staples.com/hometownviews .
