Blockbuster, Inc. and Southwest Airlines have teamed to hand out 4 million snack packs on flights that include coupons for movies. The two partnered with Kraft Foods and the Coca-Cola Co., who are providing the refreshments.
Beginning last week, passengers were handed the snack packs filled with Golden Oreo Cookies, Jell-O Fruit Snacks and Ritz Cheese Crackers along with a Rent 1 Movie, Get 1 One-Week Movie rental coupon from Blockbuster.
Kraft and Coca-Cola have tied the promotion to a sweepstakes for the chance to win a grand-prize trip for four to Hollywood, with hotel accommodations, a rental car, a day sight-seeing tour, dinner, passes to theme parks, $500 in spending money and a 52-week Blockbuster Movie Card for a year of free movie rentals. Ten first prizes are one round-trip ticket anywhere on Southwest and a 52-week Blockbuster Movie Card. Twenty-five $20 Blockbuster gift cards will be awarded as second prizes. Consumers can enter the sweeps at southwest.com/blockbuster.
Supporting the effort are jet bridge posters and terminal banners in Southwest terminals, notices in the airlines Rapid Reward e-newsletter and subscriber e-mails, along with Southwest ads on Blockbusters’ in-store television network. The promotion runs through December.
