Quiznos is giving away 1 million sub sandwiches in the form of printable online coupons. Visitors enter their name, e-mail address and birth date to receive the coupons.

The coupons can be used anytime at any of the 5,000 participating Quiznos nationwide, the company said. By Tuesday afternoon, more than 333,000 coupons had been downloaded a day after launching the giveaway.

People who register will be entered into Quiznos QClub marketing database and will receive marketing messages from the company, including a coupon for a free Sammie, a pita-like sandwich, and a one for a free cookie on their birthday.

Quiznos is also awarding free subs for a year to people as part of its “Making the World Better” promotion. Starting in March visitors can nominate their personal hero by submitting a brief written or video description of that person’s contributions to make the world a better place. The company plans to share stories it receives on the site and will hand out free subs for a year to the nominees with the best stories. The contest runs through April 3. Quiznos will name one winner each day.

The giveaway and contest is part of Quiznos’ “New Lower Prices Every Day” campaign. Last month, the company slashed prices on a number of its sandwiches and menu items, including 20 subs, which are available for less than $5.

Quiznos is supporting the promotion with PR, banner ads, radio spots and virally through Facebook and Twitter. Facebook users can also become fans of Quiznos to learn more about this promotion and other campaigns by visiting online. Crenshaw Communications handles PR and Zeta Interactive is Quizno’s interactive agency.

In other recent company news, Quiznos’ said CEO Dave Deno has resigned citing personal reasons. He had been on the job less than five months. Founder Rick Schaden will take over the post, the company said.
