PRC Proposal Would Rework Postal Accounting Procedures

The Postal Regulatory Commission has proposed new regulations governing the U.S. Postal Service’s accounting practices and new rules to determine the assumed federal income tax on competitive products income.

The proposed rules, which will be published soon in the Federal Register, would also require the USPS to file various periodic reports such as an annual income report and pro forma balance sheet. The postal service would also be required to submit a competitive products fund report to the Department of Treasury and the PRC.
