LG Mobile Phones will be the featured sponsor of Olympus Fashion Week to be held this month in Manhattan.
To kick off the week’s events—Sept. 18-15—LG is sponsoring a contest for designers from the Katherine Gibbs design school in New York City. Students can create an original design with the winner receiving a $5,000 cash prize and a three-month internship with celebrity designer Carmen Marc Valvo. The sketches must incorporate an LG mobile phone as an accessory or key component of the design.
The designs will be displayed at the LG Lounge during Fashion Week where visitors can recharge their phones and check out a variety of parent LG Electronics Inc.’s products including phones, plasma televisions and refrigerators. Visitors can vote for their favorite design onsite or online at www.FashionTalksLG.com. All voters are automatically registered in a sweepstakes to win a suite of products from LG.
Fashion Week brings together the world’s top designers, models and celebrities for a week of shows and parties that set the tone for fashion trends for the coming year.
In addition to its sponsorship of Fashion Week LG Mobile Phones is also key sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles, which takes place Oct. 25-29, 2004.
LG Mobile Phones last month launched its largest advertising push since its U.S. market debut in 1998. Advertising includes motion picture screenings and national and regional print. TV ads break this fall.
