Krystal Holds World Hamburger-Eating Championship

Despite controversy over fast food contributing to rising obesity, hamburger chain Krystal is holding its first-ever world hamburger-eating championship this fall.

Billed as the Krystal Square Off, the 11-event hamburger-eating circuit will run throughout the Southeast, culminating with a final world championship in Chattanooga, TN on Nov. 13. The series will feature The Krystal, the 2.5-inch square hamburger that has been the QSR’s signature offering since its founding in 1932. Organizers anticipate participants to consume upwards of around 40-to-50 burgers within the allotted eight-minute eating period.

The grand-prize winner will be awarded $5,000, second place will take home $1,000 and third place will bank $500.
