Hilton Sweepstakes Taps into “Mad Men” Glamour

The Hilton Family of hotel properties checks in as the latest brand to borrow some of the marketing buzz generated by the multiple-Emmy-Award winning show “Mad Men” with a “Live like a mad Man” sweepstakes.

One grand-prize winner will earn a three-night stay in the Waldorf-Astoria, a professional makeover by one of the show’s stylists, and a wardrobe item—possibly even a fedora worn by Don Draper, the show’s slightly shady hero.

Sweepstakes entrants can play to win simply by booking a stay at any Hilton Family hotel around the world before Nov. 15 using a special page on the company’s Web site. Rooms booked at that site will reportedly receive a special “Mad men” rate. Those who don’t wish to book can enter via postcard.

In addition to round—trip airfare to new York and the four-day stay at the Waldorf—featured in last Sunday’s episode, in which Draper actually encountered Hilton founder Conrad Hilton—the grand-prize winner of the “Live Like a mad Man” sweepstakes will receive an autographed script from the show, DVD box sets of the first two seasons, and a bundle of gift cards redeemable at restaurants and other “Mad Men”-inspired locations around New York.

“‘Mad Men’ has captured the fascination of television viewers everywhere and rekindled a certain romanticism with new York and the 1960s,” Hilton Hotels senior vice president for global customer marketing Jeff Diskin said in a release. “Our ‘Live like a Mad Man’ rate is the perfect way to experience the luxury and grandeur of travel in the Big Apple and around the world.”

Hilton Hotels owns the Waldorf, but as a part of its portfolio of Luxury and Lifestyle Brands it is not a participant in the “mad men” Promotion.

Hilton properties took an active part in the “New York’s Gone MAD” events organized by cable channel AMC in the week before the launch of the hit show’s third-season premiere episode on Aug. 16. The New York Hilton featured “Mad Men”-inspired cocktail classics from the early ‘60s, including a brandy Alexander and Tom Collins.
