FedEx Extends NBA Marketing Partnership
Fedex renewed its deal as an NBA marketing teammate in a multi-year pact maintaining its position as the league’s official air and ground delivery service.
To support the deal, FedEx also inked endorsement deals with five international NBA stars, including San Antonio Spurs guards Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli, Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash, Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng and New Orleans Hornets forward Peja Stojakovic.
FedEx will continue sponsoring the “Go Around the World with FedEx, ” a weekly feature on NBA TV and NBA.com. The highlight-based feature on NBA.com offers fans a weekly sweepstakes for a chance to win autographed merchandise from one of their star endorsers. All fans entering the weekly sweeps are also entered to win the grand prize: a trip around the world.
The five players will appear in FedEx advertising. They’ll also run daily basketball clinics during NBA All-Star week at the “FedEx All-Star Global Village,” a half-court interactive display for fans attending the All-Star festivities. FedEx will also host a private hospitality suite at the All-Star game.
“When you combine the global reach of FedEx with the international diversity of our game, it presents us with an enormous platform to jointly market the NBA and FedEx to our fans,” said Mark Tatum, NBA senior vice president of marketing partnerships, in a statement.
FedEx also will host “Chalk Talks” for select customers featuring former NBA stars at regular season games in several NBA arenas. And FedEx is planning a breakfast for small business clients at the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
FedEx has been an NBA marketing partner since 2004.
