Lunchmeat marketer Carl Buddig & Co. breaks an on-pack promotion this week that will give away 15 million song downloads.

Starting today, packages of Carl Buddig and Old Wisconsin brand deli meats and sausages will carry a code good for one free song.

Consumers enter their codes at the brands’ Web sites, Buddig.com and OldWisconsin.com, then get an e-mail with a music code to redeem at Puretracks.com, a digital music service.

There are nearly 2 million songs to choose from. That variety means that Homewood, IL-based Buddig can reach a broad audience.

“The universal appeal of music makes it an ideal giveaway for us because our customers transcend demographics,” said Tom Padula, Carl Buddig director of marketing, in a statement. “Our customers are able to choose from a huge selection of songs and a wide variety of genres, ensuring something for every taste.”
