Burger King Launches ‘Pink Panther 2’ Instant-Win Game

Burger King is pushing sales of its BK Fresh Apple Fries with an instant-win game tied to MGM and Columbia Pictures’ recent release of “Pink Panther 2.”

Customers who buy BK Fresh Apple Fries will receive a code on specially marked packages. People who visit and click on the game link can enter those codes through March 3 for a chance to win a diamond and pink sapphire necklace. Each prize includes a pendant with a half-carat white diamond surrounded by pink sapphires.

Thirty necklaces will be given away in all, Burger King said.

The promotion is designed to promote one of Burger King’s healthier menu options for kids. The company launched BK Fresh Apple Fries—red apples are cut to resemble French fries and are served in the same containers as fries—in June 2008.

In “Pink Panther 2,” the Pink Panther diamond is stolen once again, along with several other artifacts and Inspector Clouseau is brought in to solve the case. The movie opened nationwide on Feb. 6.

Print ads, online and in restaurant merchandising support the promotion. Wunderman is executing the game, online and merchandising portions of the campaign, while Campbell-Mithun is handling the print ads.
