Wrigley Sweepstakes Lauds Ripken’s Induction

Wrigley is proving to be more than your average Cal Ripken, Jr. fan.

Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. is running an in-pack sweepstakes for Big League Chew gum that celebrates Ripken’s induction this summer into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Big League Chew Live the Dream sweepstakes puts game pieces in 4 million packages of Big League Chew gum. One game piece, marked “Homerun,” delivers a grand-prize trip for four to the National Baseball Hall of Fame Weekend ceremonies on July 27-30.

Four game pieces marked “Triple” will award five-day trips for two to Ripken Baseball Camp. “Double” game pieces (225 of them) are good for an autographed baseball card or piece of equipment; “Single” cards (400 of them) get a membership to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. (The 10,000 game pieces marked “Walk” earn a free pack of Big League Chew gum.)

The sweeps runs through May via GMR Marketing, New Berlin, WI.

As part of the Ripken campaign, Chicago-based Wrigley put a one-of-a-kind package of Big League Chew on the auction block at eBay. The autographed package has a caricature of Ripken on the front. Bidding wraps up today, with proceeds going to the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to fund baseball and softball programs for disadvantaged youth.
