As the USA Luge Team prepares for the upcoming 2004-05 international racing season, Verizon is introducing thousands to the sport this winter through the Verizon Luge Challenge.
Families and winter sports enthusiasts can experience the sport at six U.S. ski resorts, in a safe slope-side setting, with help from USA Luge international medalists, athletes and coaches.
Those who show the most promise will have an opportunity to become an international luge athlete. Four grand-prize winners will be invited to participate in either a luge fantasy camp for adults or a U.S. Developmental Team screening camp for children in Lake Placid, NY.
Coaches will be looking for talented 11- to 14-year-olds to attend the Lake Placid screening camps, while the fastest adults from the men’s and women’s 18-years-and-older category will be entered to win the fantasy camp spots.
