Office Depot’s national sweepstakes in February to crown an Official Small Business of NASCAR was so successful that they have decided to take the sweeps to regional races as well.
Businesses in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas and Miami will get the chance to be named Office Depot Official Small Business of the Race and have their company names featured on the No. 99 Office Depot Ford driven by Carl Edwards in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race located in that market. The winner will also receive a $1,000 Office Depot Shopping Spree, a VIP NASCAR Nextel Cup weekend experience, and a host of other prizes.
“To see our core small business customers embrace our program so strongly was really very gratifying,” said Office Depot spokesperson Mindy Kramer regarding the February sweeps. “Plus, more than six million small business owners consider themselves to be NASCAR fans, so we know that we are talking to millions of customers and potential new customers with our NASCAR marketing activities.”
About 250 Office Depot stores in the five cities will be involved in the sweepstakes. Businesses can enter at computer workstations at a nearby Office Depot, or online at Officedepotracing.com. The promotion is open to small businesses with no more than 99 employees.
Each sweepstakes is scheduled to begin about five weeks prior to the race in each of the local markets. First up is Chicago, where the USG Sheetrock 400 is raced July 10. The last is in Miami, where the Ford 400 at will run on Nov. 20.
Office Depot caters to small businesses and signed on as the Official Office Supply Partner of NASCAR in January. The Marketing Arm, Dallas, handles the sweepstakes.
Fort Bend Lock & Key of Houston won the February sweepstakes, and the owners are using the Official Small Business of NASCAR designation as a way to grow its customer base and foster relationships with potential new clients, Tony Ueber, VP-marketing strategy for Office Depot, said.
