Sony Pictures Consumer Products is rolling out a sea of licensing opportunities for the upcoming animated film Surf’s Up.
Surf’s Up takes viewers behind the scenes of competitive penguin surfing. The film profiles Cody Maverick, an up-and-coming surfer as he enters his first pro competition. Inspired his hero, Big Z, Cody leaves his hometown of Shiverpool, Antarctica, to travel to the tropical island of Pen-Gu for the Big Z Memorial Surf Contest. Cody thinks winning will bring him the respect he never had. But when he encounters The Geek, an old surfer, he learns the greatest champion isn’t always the one who comes in first.
Surf’s Up hits theaters nationwide in the summer of 2007.
Sony Pictures Consumer Products is seeking all licensed product categories for the film, including apparel, toys, and games. Surf’s Up marks Sony Pictures Animation’s second feature film.
