Sharper Image Corp. experienced a 10% sales gain during the last five Christmas shopping days, compared with the same period last year.
The company did not supply sales numbers, or discuss the performance of individual channels. But CEO Richard Thalheimer said in a statement that margins had also improved, and that the firm did not turn to promotional pricing.
“Excluding last year’s phenomenal Razor Scooter sales the increase in total business was even larger for the five-day period,” Thalheimer added.
Thalheimer continued that the big sellers included the Ionic Breeze Silent Air Purifier and the firm’s stereo systems.
Earlier this month, Sharper Image reported that total November sales fell from 18%—to $52 million. However, some of that decline was attributed to the to the sale last year’s Razor Scooter sales.
November catalog sales fell to $12.7 million, compared with $15.7 million last year.
The company is a San Francisco-based specialty retailer and cataloger.
