Seattle Mall Tests Concierge Kiosks

NDR Media has installed concierge kiosks that handle in-mall promotions and loyalty programs in a Seattle-area mall.

The three i-Concierge kiosks at Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue, WA, let shoppers access promotions and print coupons. By early 2006, they’ll also let shoppers buy gift cards and movie tickets, and register for loyalty programs. The kiosks also can collect shopper data.

“People seem to be intrigued with the new terminals— have been checking out promotions and coupons and browsing everything from movie times to local events,” said Crossroads Bellevue Managing Partner Ron Sher in a statement.

Bellevue-based NDR Media plans to install i-Concierge terminals in other malls and public venues nationally in early 2006 with the hope of replacing static directories.

“Consumers will be able to learn about sales and promotions at their favorite stores, view movie trailers and find out more about local events,” said NDR President-CEO Jeff Nellans in a statement. “Mall owners will have the ability to easily update tenants’ information, mall events, promotions and coupons and advertisements.”

Mall tenants subscribe in order to distribute coupons via i-Concierge; ads run on the touchscreen or on a display screen above it.
