School Specialty Narrows Losses

School Specialty Inc. posted a net loss of $18.5 million for the third quarter, compared to a net loss of $23.4 million in the prior year.

The Greenville, WI firm reported revenue of $103.1 million for the quarter ended Jan. 23, a decrease from $121.7 million last year.

The institutional school supplies direct marketer attributed these results in part to overall economic conditions which have continued to affect school spending levels as well as its acquisition of AutoSkill International.
