Marvin Runyon, former U.S. postmaster general has been named acting chairman of Stamps.com. John Payne, chairman and CEO, stepped down this week.
Runyon has been a board member of the struggling dot-com. The Santa Monica company allows customers to download and print U.S. postage and shipping labels from major carriers such as Federal Express and United Parcel Service. For the six months ended June 30, the company had a net loss of $89.2 million on revenue of $5.7 million.
There have been a number of other top-level executive changes recently. Payne will remain on the company’s board and keep his title of chairman of an online ticket provider in which Stamps.com holds a majority stake.
