Rodale Names John McCarthy VP of Rodale Direct

Rodale Inc., has appointed John McCarthy vice president of Rodale Direct for Women’s Health, Best Life, Runner’s World, Running Times, Bicycling, and Mountain Bike, effective immediately.

In his new role, McCarthy will oversee all direct-to-consumer marketing for these brands, including subscription marketing, book marketing, and circulation management. He will also manage agency-driven subscriptions and partnerships across all of Rodale’s magazines.

“John brings to Rodale tremendous offline and online direct marketing skills. He’s an excellent strategist and tactician with a history of direct marketing success,” said Gregg Michaelson, EVP of Rodale Direct, in a statement

McCarthy was most recently senior vice president of consumer marketing at Source Interlink Media, where he oversaw all consumer marketing for 80 consumer titles, including subscription generation, online marketing, and database management. Previously, he held multiple positions at Time Inc., including VP and Consumer Marketing Director of Popular Science. He has also worked for Columbia House and Royal Caribbean Cruises. He will report to Michaelson.
