Reebok CMO Appointed to President

Adidas AG has appointed Reebok Chief Marketing Officer Uli Becker as president and CEO. The post takes effect April 1.

Becker will succeed Paul Harrington, who is resigning from the position after two years to pursue a new career, the company said.

Reebok is keeping quiet about who will replace Becker as the new chief marketing officer. But a successor is expected to be named by the time Becker takes over his new role, a company spokesperson said.

As CEO, Harrington, who has been working at Adidas AG for nearly 12 years, is credited with playing a key role managing the integration of Reebok into the Adidas AG group. Reebok International was bought by Adidas for $3.8 billion in 2005.

Becker has been leading Reebok’s marketing efforts since May 2006. In that role, he oversees the Reebok Global Marketing Group, which includes product, sport and entertainment marketing. Prior to that, Becker was head of global brand marketing of the Adidas brand and managing director of Adidas International B.V. in Amsterdam from 2002 to 2006. He started his career at Adidas in 1990.
