Recent figures released by comScore regarding online advertising networks showed that AOL’s Platform-A ad network (which includes Advertising.com, Quigo, and Tacoda) led the pack, reaching 90.7% of the total number of Internet users in the U.S. during March 2008.

Of the 170.5 million users Platform-A reached in March, Advertising.com reached 167.5 million of them, which would have placed it atop the list even if was a separate company. There were 188 million total unique Internet users in the U.S. during the month of March.

Yahoo! Network followed behind in second place, reaching 160 million users in March, or 85.3% of all Internet users.

Google Ad Network reached 152 million users, or 80.9% of all users in March, putting it at third.

Specific Media (146 million/77.4%), ValueClick Networks (140 million/74.5%), Tribal Fusion (136 million/72.1%), Casale Media Network (129 million/68.8%), DRIVEpm (124 million/66.1%), adconion media group (117 million/62.5%), and interClick (109 million/57.9%) rounded out the top 10.

Each of the top 15 ad networks in March reached at least 50% of the total Internet population in the U.S.

While these ad networks gave advertisers the opportunity to reach a broad range of users, comScore also highlighted some niche online ad networks for more specific audiences. Of these, Snap Shots Network (delivering ads to Snap.com’s Snap Shots users) led the way in March, reaching 18.6 million users, or 9.9% of the total U.S. online population.

AdOn Network (16.8 million/8.9%), GoFish Networks (9.9 million/5.2%), Widgetbucks Network (9.6 million/5.1%), HispanoClick by Batanga (8.4 million/4.5%), Indieclick (6.9 million/3.7%), The Heavy Men’s Network (3.4 million/1.8%), and NeoEdge Game Network (911,000/0.5%) rounded out the top 10 list of niche ad networks.
