Pixsy and PureVideo Team Up

Posted on

On Monday, a day that was owned by Google and YouTube’s big news, Pixsy, a “visual search” site that looks for images and videos across thousands of content providers on the Web, announced a partnership with new video search engine PureVideo.

The deal will be revenue-sharing based, and no cash will be involved.

PureVideo CEO Erik Hawkins said that his company is different from YouTube and its new owner, Google, because PureVideo will search for videos across a large number of sites on the Web, as opposed to just videos that are on its own site.

When users search for content, they will see thumbnails and links in their search results. PureVideo is expected to “make the content look better,” while Pixsy provides the search technology, according to Pixsy CEO Chase Norlin.

PureVideo’s main hurdle is eliminating duplicate results in their video searches. The site is still in beta.

There are similar video search sites out there, such as Flurl, but Pixsy and PureVideo hope to become the leader in a realm that does not have one yet.
