Nokia is truly ringing in the New Year.
A series of music events begins on New Year’s eve in Hong Kong’s Ocean Terminal and then travels west to Mumbai’s Andheri Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro before the grand finale in New York. Each event will treat music lovers to performances from international artists including The Black Eyed Peas and Scissor Sisters. It is expected to reach a global TV and Internet audience of 150 million and live audiences of 1.3 million.
The performances can also be viewed online at NokiaNewYearsEve.com and downloaded to mobile phones.
“Nokia New Year’s Eve aims to connect millions of people from around the world through music and mobility,” said Jo Harlow, senior VP-marketing, Nokia. “Nokia New Year’s Eve leverages the power of television, the internet, live events and the world’s most exciting music artists to get people talking, sharing and celebrating on one incredible night.”
Orchestrating the global celebration for Nokia is Harvey Goldsmith CBE, the producer of Live Aid and Live8.
Finland-based Nokia said it will announce further details about the global party in the coming weeks.
