Nickelodeon Launches Pop Culture Dashboard

Nickelodeon has created another cyberspace extension with UpickDaily.com, an online water cooler for kids to share opinions on entertainment, sports and the Web itself.

Kids will be able to take quizzes or respond to polls on the new site, post blogs or comment on things they most like—or dislike. They can also submit their own quizzes and polls. Videos and photos will be culled from the Web for kids to make their picks on what’s hot in a “U Top 5” section.

Nickelodeon will moderate all content on a round-the-clock basis to ensure that the site will be a safe environment for those who go there.

“UpickDaily gives kids an online hub where they drive the content and can tell the world about their pop culture trends, events, or anything that is top-of-mind—whether it comes from the world of Nickelodeon or beyond,” said Steve Youngwood, executive vice president, Digital Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group.

Nick Kids’ digital sites have drawn a monthly average of 131 million visits and a total of 2.4 billion minutes in time spent through 2008, according to comScore U.S. Media Metrix.
