New Service to Offer Text Message Coupons Via Cell Phones

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

MyThum Interactive, a provider of mobile messaging services and Givex Corp., a card management company specializing in stored value transaction processing, have joined to offer redeemable coupons via mobile phones.

The Mx-Coupon service allows marketers to deliver a coupon via text messaging to cell phones that can then be redeemed at retail by displaying the coupon at point-of-sale.

“It basically eliminates the need for paper and mailing costs,” said Solina Bradshaw, a spokesperson for Givex. “And people don’t forget about it, it’s right there on their cell phone.”

The technology will be available at the 20,000 locations where Givex gift-card transaction processing systems are in place in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and the Bahamas. The retail locations include pizza shops, hair salons and bookstores. Givex has offices in the U.S., the U.K., Canada and the Bahamas.

Bradshaw said the firms are negotiating with a number of prospective clients interested in the technology.

MyThum, Toronto, works with media, marketing and entertainment brands to create mobile marketing.
