PAPA JOHN’S INTERNATIONAL, INC.: has signed a new seven-year deal for Coca-Cola Enterprise to be its beverage provider through 2011. The deal extends a 21-year run for Coca-Cola and Papa John’s that includes more than 2,600 restaurants in the US.

DRAFT: has opened a second New York City office to house its 140-member Verizon Communications team. The group takes over some office space from Interpublic Group of Cos. sibling FCB. Exec VP-group account director Nancy Grebey will oversee the new office.

NICKELODEON: is debuting two new shows as part of its lineup for the 2005-06 season. Catscratch, an animated tale about three wealthy felines who live in a world of humans premieres July 9. Power Strikers, a live action comedy about four players on a winning girls’ soccer team hits TV screens in the first quarter of 2006. The line-up is part of Nickelodeon’s six new offerings for the season.

CRAYOLA: is debuting a line of Spider-Man 2 toys and activities to coincide with the release of the movie on June 30. Kids can melt crayons and mold them into their own Spider-Man characters with the Spider-Man 2 Character Maker available exclusively at Toys ‘R’ Us; draw webby designs with Spider Writers, pens that ooze a spider-web-like ink; and decorate their windows with Spider-Man 2 window markers and window clingers. The products will feature special call-out packaging.

THE LEARNING CHANNEL: will feature a special week of sneak peeks from new Line Cinema’s The Notebook beginning June 21-25. The interstitial sneak peeks feature exclusive interviews with the film’s star Rachel McAdams as well as select scenes from the movie that premieres nationwide on June 25.

WARNER BROS.: consumer products has granted a license to Rainbow Productions to product Looney Tunes live shows throughout Europe that will feature characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety and Taz. The shows will include character mall shows and activity events and will play in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

TOM BRADY: of the New England Patriots has signed on to promote SIRIUS’ lineup of NFL programming and play-by-play coverage. The two-time Super Bowl MVP will star in SIRIUS TV commercials that will air nationwide during the summer and fall, and will also be featured in radio and print advertising and P-O-S materials. The advertising will promote NFL Sunday Drive, the lineup of NFL games that brings football fans nationwide the entire NFL every week, as well as SIRIUS NFL Radio.

ADIDAS:

will be an official supporter of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Under the agreement with the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, Adidas will supply uniforms for the workforce (staff and volunteers) and technical officials of the Athens 2004 and Paralympic Games. In total, more than 4,000 athletes will compete in the company’s signature three stripes and Adidas will provide products for 26 out of the 28 Olympic sports. The athletic-wear company currently outfits 21 National Olympic Committees, including host nation Greece, the U.S., Germany, the U.K., France and Cuba.

4KIDS ENTERTAINMENT: announced a multi-year licensing agreement with Mattel, Inc. Mattel will serve as master toy licensee for Shaman King, an animated series airing on Fox Box, 4Kids Entertainment’s Saturday morning four-hour children’s programming block. The master toy license grants Mattel the exclusive manufacturing and marketing rights worldwide, outside of Asia, to produce and sell action figures and accessories, board games, puzzles, vehicles, play sets, activity and role-playing products, youth electronics and visual toys. The first line of products is expected to debut in Fall 2004.

NIKE: announced the Nike 26.2 last week, a marathon for women to be run in San Francisco on Oct. 24, 2004 to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This race will be an annual event and the first marathon in the U.S. for women runners and walkers of all ages. Running legend Joan Benoit Samuelson and CSI: Miami actress Emily Procter will serve as marathon ambassadors. The race will be the culmination of a weekend celebration in October with events and activities including a race expo at Union Square, featuring health and fitness features for active women, guest speakers, fitness classes, Pilates, natural medicine and meditation.

VALPACK: is supporting the National Association of Letter Carriers’ 12th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive by distributing more than 40 million direct-mail pieces to households across the country. Beginning this week through April 23, U.S. households will receive Valpack envelopes featuring specially designed artwork from Family Circus cartoonist Bil Keane encouraging consumers to support the drive. PEPSI-COLA NORTH AMERICA: is bringing Mountain Dew LiveWire back to store shelves nationwide beginning this week. It will remain in market through August. Mountain Dew LiveWire—the flavor of Mountain Dew with an infusion of orange and other citrus flavors—was on store shelves during the summer of 2003, and added a 10% volume swing to the Mountain Dew trademark, the company said.

has named L. Dick Buell, 53, as CEO and a member of the company’s board of directors. Buell succeeds Michael O’Brien, a company founder, former chairman and CEO, who has served as interim CEO since November. Buell has worked as CEO of Foodbrands American Inc., and CEO of Griffith Laboratories, Inc. as well as VP-marketing at Kraft, Inc.

SESAME WORKSHOP: has named Global Licensing Ltd. as its licensing representative for the Sesame Street brand in New Zealand.

141 WORLDWIDE: Chicago, hired agency veteran Larry Deutsch as exec VP-engagement partner. He had been head of new business for Upshot, Chicago, now owned by Equity Marketing.

THE MARKETING ARM: Dallas, is launching a graphic services department and named Brad Bishop as the entertainment and sports consultancy’s first-ever creative director overseeing the new division. Bishop had been at The Promotion Network and earlier at The Marketing Continuum, both Dallas. The Marketing Arm is owned by Omnicom Group and has offices in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and New York City.

RED LOBSTER: selected Dallas-based The Richards Group as advertising agency of record this week. The Richards Group will be responsible for developing promotions, strategic planning, advertising development, and media planning for Red Lobster’s 670 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The selection was made after a nationwide agency review, which included submissions from Grey Worldwide and Euro RSCG Tatham Partners.

ABN AMRO: announced a 20 million Euro sponsorship of two boats to compete in the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race. The Amsterdam-based international bank is hoping to further strengthen its international brand awareness by participating in the round the world yacht race, which boasts a cumulative global TV audience of more than 800 million.

JORDAN: a division of Nike, Inc., last week introduced the Air Jordan XIX, the latest version of the Air Jordan basketball shoe franchise. Print, online and television marketing support the launch.

BIG BOY RESTAURANTS: introduced three new broiled low carb seafood entrees to its menu. The new entrees, debuting in time for Lent, include a broiled seafood platter, broiled scallops and garden vegetable cod. All meals are under 10 net carbs and are served with sautéed garden vegetables and a salad.

GRAND CENTRAL MARKETING: New York City, hired three directors and opened a Los Angeles office to be managed by senior account director SeeLun Mak. New to the event and promotion agency are account director John Cordero, working on NASCAR programs; public relations director Keith Fernbach, working on p.r. for Meow Mix Co.; and assistant account director Vanessa Rodriguez, who will manage ESPN’s 25th anniversary mobile marketing tour.

is featuring Strawberry Shortcake branded shops in 582 stores for the holiday shopping season. Depending on size, stores will have 8-to-16 foot branded sections offering Strawberry Shortcake products and licensed items. Toys ‘R’ Us will also promote offers of the week and the Holiday Big Book will feature Strawberry Shortcake products. In-store signage supports.

DIET RITE: is putting a new wrap on its diet soft drink including the addition of the Splenda logo and a “Zero Carbs” message. The new look debuts next year.

CORDIANT COMMUNICATIONS’:

shareholders overwhelmingly approved the acquisition of the company by global ad giant WPP Group PLC. More than 99% of Cordiant shareholders approved WPP’s purchase of the debt-laden company for around 10 million pounds ($16 million.) WPP has also taken on Cordiant’s 256 million pound ($409 million) debt.
