That optimism translates to the two most important initiatives marketers will focus on this year—generating more leads and improving conversion rates, according to the Maropost Industry Trends Report and Action Plan.

The new study uncovers marketing trends in sales and marketing and includes the tools, tips and techniques being used most effectively by both B2C and B2B marketers, as well as the challenges and opportunities they see in the year ahead. Respondents rated the success of their campaigns, reported which social platforms generated the best results and weighed in on whether they know what their customer lifetime value is, among a number of other key trends. Email is still going strong used for a number of consumer and prospect contacts including e-newsletters, welcome emails and re-engagement, the Maropost study found.

Engaging prospects and getting them to convert continue to be one of the biggest lead-gen challenges and conversion concerns are on the rise. There are a number of hurdles to conversion including a lack of follow-up by sales and getting sales and marketing to work more collaboratively, an issue tackled in the Maropost survey.
