The tour will symbolize the concept of the service, Napster To Go, and underscore the value of portability, the company said.
Plans call for converting “hip” venues in New York, Austin, Los Angeles and Nashville into Napster To Go Cafés. At the cafés, consumers will get a free one-month subscription to the service, free gourmet coffee, free digital music downloads and free iriver, Creative or Dell MP3 players, all featured under the theme “free fills & refills”. The MP3 players and coffee were served up in new York by celebrities including Gary Dell’Abate of
The Howard Stern Show and cast members from
The Apprentice.
The four-city tour, which kicked off March 9 at Coffee Shop in New York City, ends April 4 in Nashville, TN. The events are being promoted by local radio and street teams. Grand Central Marketing, New York, handles the tour.
Napster To Go is a portable subscription music service that enables consumers to move an unlimited number of tracks from Napster’s song catalog to compatible MP3 players for a monthly fee of $14.95.
