Motley Fool to Publish Catalog of Investment Offerings

The Motley Fool will publish a catalog of its offerings in early October. The 16-page, full-color book will mark the first time the investment and financial advisory services firm has issued a catalog.

Jay Bower, president of Crossbow Group, told Direct Newsline that featured items will include investment newsletters and special reports, all of which have been generated by The Motley Fool’s staff. The Motley Fool chose Crossbow to help develop the catalog.

Bower would not release the exact circulation, but he did say the catalog was intended as a cross-sell mechanism, and would go to a customer base in the six-figure range.

The catalog will be mailed in an envelope, which will also contain a pitch letter. While Crossbow is producing only one version of the catalog, the letter will be versioned based on the recipient’s previous purchases.

The Motley Fool currently uses e-mail to pitch its newsletters and reports, Bower said. But the company’s customers skew older, and the wanted to test whether they would be more receptive to a traditional mail offering.

The Motley Fool catalog will not contain any apparel or other items that bear the company’s jester logo, Bower said.
