Marvel Entertainment has named Alan Fine to executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Marvel Characters, Inc., a newly created position.
In his new role, Fine is in charge of directing and coordinating Marvel’s work to strengthen the company’s brands. Marvel Characters is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, which owns and licenses the company’s intellectual property library.
The position took effect mid May.
The new post comes as Marvel ramps up works to further develop the brand name and market its library of characters across current and emerging platforms, the company said. Marvel Studios is set to roll out self-produced feature films in its Super Hero franchise, including “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk” next summer.
Fine, who joined Marvel in 1996, retains his current title of chief marketing officer of the company’s toy and publishing divisions.
