Markets on Demand Cuts Jobs
Chicago database company Markets on Demand has laid off between 10 and 15 people, Karen Talavera, vice president of marketing, has confirmed.
The cuts are a move to make the company profitable, which should occur “within 30 days,” Talavera said.
The layoffs, which occurred on Monday, came mostly from the job search site the Chicago company ran, www.jobsonline.com.
“This was a right-sizing to put the right people behind the data business,” Talavera said. “Any Web site that’s largely dependent on advertising revenue is feeling the pain these days. We realized we have a lot more opportunities for revenue focusing on Markets on Demand.”
The company declined to say precisely how many employees were cut and how many remained.
Markets on Demand has nine million postal and e-mail names and a number of data-enhancement services including an e-mail append service.
