Live from RoadShow Hollywood: EA Teams With Mazda for Video Game Ads, Sweeps

Electronic Arts is teaming up with Mazda to promote the automaker’s latest in-game advertising venture in the Need for Speed: Carbon video game with a sweepstakes and national gaming tournament around the game.

EA is launching a gaming tournament in 16 markets, in which gamers playing the title will compete against each other for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to take part in the final tournament on Nov. 2. In all, one winner from 16 markets will compete Nov. 2 in Las Vegas in the final tournament. Each winner and a guest fly to attend a launch party at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.

The final two graned-prize winners will reach receive a 2007 MazdaSpeed 3 vehicle; lesser prizes include GameStop and EB Games gift cards.

EA released details about the promotion at The L.A. Office RoadShow in Hollywood yesterday. The sweepstakes kicks off Oct. 1. To enter, consumers can visit Mazdaspeednfs.com.

Local tournaments will take place Oct. 16 in markets including New York, Tampa, FL, Miami, Houston, San Francisco and Seattle and Oct. 22 in Atlanta, Washington, DC, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and Los Angeles.

The MazdaSpeed3 is integrated into the Need for Speed: Carbon game, which hits retail stores Oct. 31. Consumers can pre-register for the game on EA.com, GameStop.com and MazdaUSA.com. GameStop and EB Games will promote the title, gaming tournament and sweeps via its in-store TV networks and signage.
