LG Mobile Phones began a five-year marketing campaign supporting its LG Action Sports Championships, with more than $650,000 in prize money to be awarded.
This year’s championships began Nov. 15 and ends Nov. 23 in Pomona, CA.
The LG Lounge, a fan hospitality area, features interactive displays and video clips. Action sports pros will sign autographs, and LG Phone Girls will demonstrate new LG VX6000 phones.
The LG Lifeline Contest features action sports and music industry trivia questions, which fans can answer to win custom skate decks and LG phones. Consumers can also win free phones via online sweeps at www.lgactionsports.com.
“Our vision for the future is to have many tours leading up to the championships,” spokesperson Melissa Elkins said. “We launched this brand awareness campaign with a global initiative.”
The championships, targeting Gen X and Gen Y trendsetters, showcase pro and amateur athlete competitions. Expected attendance is over 75,000. The event will be televised on Fox Sports from Nov. 28 to Jan. 3.
