LG and Alloy Media + Marketing have launched a contest to give one aspiring musician a cash prize in a high-profile competition.
“LG: Rally for Music” is a user-generated platform at rallyformusic.com where amateur musicians can upload performance videos through May 26 for a chance to be judged by their peers, with the top four performers to appear in New York in a live competition this summer. The grand-prize winner will receive $15,000.
Aspiring musicians and music fans alike can create personal profiles on the Web site and enter a monthly sweepstakes for prizes.
“The Rally for Music program is one of the many ways we are getting involved in music and music education,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, LG Mobile vice president of product strategy and marketing. “We look forward to crowning a winner and giving some talented musicians an avenue to showcase their work.”
Participants can also create widgets on the Web site to send their videos to friends and encourage them to vote on the site.
Alloy is plugging the program through its Teen.com network of sites, including Sugarloot.com, Meez, RockYou and Zwinky. It will also promote the contest through e-mails to its base of music enthusiasts. College newspapers will runs ads and the in-school Channel One broadcast will carry LG spots starting this month.
