You gave me a nice chuckle in your column this week — the idea of adults fighting over a zip code brought me back to a similar type of debate in the D.C. area a number of years back.

A small portion of an incorporated town named “Rockville” (it’s the same one of REM fame, as in “don’t go back to Rockville…”) lobbied to change its name to “North Potomac” in an effort to latch onto some of the glitz and glamour of nearby Potomac, home of politicians, ambassadors, and a few “B”-level celebrities. And after much effort the North Potomac folks won and got their name after all!
