Alan F. Harris, Kellogg Co. executive VP and president of Kellogg International, has been named chief marketing and customer officer for the consumer package goods giant effective Oct. 1. He will continue in his role as executive VP.

The newly created position was developed to maximize the creation and sharing of ideas and resources across the company’s portfolio. Harris will be responsible for global marketing, sales, nutrition, innovation and business development, the company said in a statement.
He will report to David Mackay, president and COO.
Harris joined Kellogg in 1984. He has worked as president of Kellogg Canada, Kellogg Latin America and Kellogg Europe as well as president, sales and marketing for Kellogg USA.
Kellogg had 2002 sales of $8.3 billion.
