Jose Cuervo is on the hunt for undiscovered Latino musical artists and is building a major event around the search.
The Cuervotón National Hispanic Urban Music Competition will show off the talents of rising stars and help promote Latinos in the music business as the tequila maker searches for the hottest unsigned acts in Reggaeton and Hip Hop Latino.
Consumers go to a dedicated Web site Cuervoton.com to find details on submitting one song on a CD or tape. The site also includes information on events and the judges and an area to download free tracks from Chingo Bling, Los Yo Yais and others.
Three-month long events in Chicago, Houston and Phoenix began in January and end this month. The semi-finals will be held in those three cities in April. One winner from each of the semi-finals will be the opening acts for a “star-studded” final concert in New York City on May 18. The grand-prize winner will appear on Cuervotón CD Volume 2, the Cuervotón Web site and have the opportunity to meet with executives of Wu-Tang Latino and Machete Records and a write up in Bridgez Magazine.
The artists are being selected by DJ Tony Touch, Chingo Bling, Bridgez Magazine, Wu-Tang Latino and Machete record labels as well as local judges who reviewed a CD submission.
“There are so many people who are hustling for the American Dream,” said Chingo Bling in a statement. “Someone coming from nothing and trying to get something.”
Local radio promotions support.
The Jose Cuervo line of tequilas, owned by Diageo North America, Inc., includes Jose Cuervo Especial, Jose Cuervo Clasico, Jose Cuervo Black and Jose Cuervo Traditional among others.
