AOL Time Warner Inc. has hired Jon Miller to lead the company’s America Online division, reports said.
Miller will replace Robert Pittman as chief of the online business.
Miller left USA Interactive Inc. in June for an e-commerce start-up. At USA, Miller was a top executive in charge of the company’s information and services group , overseeing Match.com and Hotels.com. Before that Prior to USA, he had worked at Viacom Inc., the National Basketball Association and Public Broadcasting Service.
In his new role, Miller must contend with inquiries by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Justice Department into AOL’s accounting practices. The company’s auditors say its practices were in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.
