J.C. Penney will close its call center in Moosic, PA, and eliminate roughly 275 job, according to reports.

The call center handled orders generated by the company’s catalog. According to published accounts, an increase in Internet orders and a decrease in telephone-generated business led to the decision to close the center.

The phone center will shut down on March 28. None of the company’s six other call centers will be affected.
