Insightful Articles Can Be Effective Lead Generation Tools

If performed correctly, article marketing is the best sales lead generation technique on the Web today. Unfortunately, many marketers writing articles online fall short in their sales lead generation efforts, because they simply can’t get people to visit their sites.

This is a critical fallacy that will render your campaign worthless. You must get people to visit your Web site and join your mailing list. If you don’t, you’re wasting time and money.

Sure, it is great to write articles presenting you as an expert in your field. And, yes, it is nice to post stories that help the world in general. But if your goal is to generate leads, your writing needs a strong call to action and an offer that grabs readers’ attention.

If you have an irresistible offer, people will come to your Web site and identify themselves. Once you capture your prospects’ names and e-mail addresses, you can create a sales-winning relationship. If you don’t do it now, you may never have another chance to sell to these people.

Here are four ways to convince people to visit your site and opt-in for future communications:

Special reports. Don’t confuse this with a newsletter. These are three to five page reports on a special topic, and should include your own insights to prove you are the expert.

Quizzes. People love to take quizzes. Create a quiz that has 10 yes or no answers. Design the questions so that people will see their pain.
