If you’re a marketer or webmaster who has yet to dig into what schemas are, you could be missing out on clicks and other benefits. Schemas are HTML tags that webmasters can use to mark up their pages in special ways recognized by major search engines.
“On-page markup enables search engines to understand the information on web pages and provide richer search results in order to make it easier for users to find relevant information on the web,” according to Schema.org.
While adding these markups isn’t guaranteed to boost a site’s search rankings, it has loads of potential SEO and other benefits. One data analysis found that schema markups boost click-through rates on search engine results pages by up to 30 percent. There are also schema markups specifically tailored to e-commerce sites, local listings and reviews.
